Appy Hr. Planning Session

Bring a friend or make some new ones! Socrative, iMovie, Adobe Voice, Book Creator, Word Salad, ThingLink...etc! Have you been giving your wonderful apps the attention they deserve? Let's get together and plan ways that we can use your apps to increase motivation and productivity in your classroom. In this two hour workshop you will revisit (or learn) some great apps. Then you will roll up your sleeves and plan activities that you can do with your students right away.

Apps: Take a Deeper Look

  1. Make groups of 3. Try to have an elementary, a MS and a HS teacher in each group.
  2. Find something you all have in common (other than you all work in RVC)
  3. Take a selfie of your group and post it on this Padlet Wall. Make sure you include what you all have in common in the note.
  4. Spin the spinner to find out which app you will be learning.
  5. Download the list of Apps to Explore.
  6. Download this Keynote template on one of the group's iPads that HAS KEYNOTE. (Once the template opens on your iPad, tap the screen...Open in Keynote.)
  7. Follow the directions in the Keynote to learn the app and create the presentation.
  8. Share with the group.

Plan An Activity

  1. Choose an app that you would like to use with your students. This app can come from the ones that were just shared or another that you have learned about but haven't had time to explore. You can regroup to plan with a colleague.
  2. Use the list of Apps to Explore to find links to the app store and activity ideas.
  3. Plan how you will use the apps with students. Use any app you feel comfortable with to record your ideas.
  4. Post a note on the Padlet wall to share your plan.
  5. If you have time, explore another app and post again.
