Uniondale iPads Part 1 ~ iLife Productivity Tools

As you enter...

The QR Code to the right will bring you to this page. Scan it to access all of the resources.

IMPORTANT! Make sure after scanning the QR code you open the site in Safari. On any QR scanner you will tap the share icon on the right side of the address bar and tap Open in Safari.

  1. As you enter, please take a quick survey.
  2. If you are finished with the survey, find a colleague that needs help getting a QR code scanning app on their iPad. I like the good old standard "Scan". Click the link to go to the App Store.
The Survey was created in Mentimeter. Here is a video tutorial on how to make a Mentimeter poll.

High-Tech Ice Breaker

Take out your phones and work your way around the room. Use your note taking app to record at least one person with the following in their camera roll:
  • A happy place
  • A frame-worthy photo
  • A picture of a famous person
  • A picture of a pet
  • A picture of something funny

The SAMR Model (and backchanneling)

  1. Use the Today's Meet room to backchannel about the video. Respond to the question...Where do you mostly live on the SAMR ladder? What are your hopes for next year?
  2. We are going to watch the Common Sense Media Video, Introduction to the SAMR Model.
  3. Click the image to the right to see it full size.
  4. Reflect - where in the ladder does the ice breaker fall? What could we do to bring it up?
The room was created in Today's Meet.

  2. Use the trailer feature. Break into groups of 3 to create a movie.
  3. Open this storyboard in eBackpack and use the tools to plan a narrative about ipads in the classroom. Your focus can be on how they were used last school year or how you hope they will be used in your classroom next year.
  4. Take and download pictures that will go along with your narrative.
  5. Create an iMovie Trailer using the storyboard and your pictures. (Please wait for the rest of the group to do this.)
